Free online IP, leak and browser fingerprint checks

[ToDetect](https://www.todetect.net/) describes itself as a free online browser fingerprint detection tool that supports IP purity checks, proxy detection, DNS and WebRTC leak tests and IP address lookup. Its [About page](https://www.todetect.net/aboutus/) describes the approach as network identity analysis that combines device characteristics, network environment and a risk profile. The tools run in the browser you open them in, so the results describe that browser and its current connection.

## Explore ToDetect

Visit ToDetect to run its IP, leak and browser checks. The descriptions here summarize its tool pages; run each check in the browser setup you plan to use.

ToDetect states that its Browser Fingerprint Consistency score reflects fingerprint consistency and does not represent a definitive pass or fail result.

## Match the check to the question

| What you want to know | ToDetect tool | What it shows |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What a website sees for your IP | [IP Quality Check](https://www.todetect.net/ip/) | Location, time zone, ISP, ASN and ASN organization, IP type and IP abuse status, with an IP Quality Score banded from Extreme Risk to Extremely Clean. The page also lists ASN and IP location history from IP databases. |
| Which DNS resolvers answer for you | [DNS Leak Test](https://www.todetect.net/dns-leak/) | The DNS server IPs, providers and countries seen for your browser. ToDetect explains that a DNS leak can reveal the websites you visit by exposing DNS requests to your ISP or third parties. |
| Whether WebRTC exposes another address | [WebRTC Leak Test](https://www.todetect.net/webrtc/) | The private and public IPs returned by a list of STUN servers, without installing an extension. ToDetect notes that WebRTC can expose your local or public IP address even when you use a VPN or proxy. |
| Whether the browser’s time zone matches the IP | [Timezone Detection](https://www.todetect.net/timezone/) | The IP-based time zone next to the browser’s JavaScript and Intl API time zones, with the UTC offset and daylight saving status. |
| Whether the browser looks automated | [Bot Detection](https://www.todetect.net/bot-detection/) | Checks for WebDriver, the DevTools Protocol (CDP), the User-Agent and altered Navigator properties. |

The [homepage](https://www.todetect.net/) shows a Browser Fingerprint Consistency score alongside the IP, DNS leak and bot detection results and hardware and software details such as Canvas, WebGL, fonts and screen resolution.

## Checking a browser proxy with ToDetect

### 1. Record a baseline

Open the [IP Quality Check](https://www.todetect.net/ip/) and the [DNS Leak Test](https://www.todetect.net/dns-leak/) with the proxy off, so you know what your own connection and resolvers look like.

### 2. Compare the IP details with your proxy

With the proxy on, reload the [IP Quality Check](https://www.todetect.net/ip/) and compare the location, ISP, ASN and IP type with what your provider states. ToDetect notes that a higher IP Quality Score means better IP quality; treat it as one signal.

### 3. Rerun the DNS and WebRTC tests

ToDetect’s [DNS Leak Test](https://www.todetect.net/dns-leak/) describes a leak as DNS requests that bypass the VPN and go through your local ISP’s DNS server. Its [WebRTC Leak Test](https://www.todetect.net/webrtc/) explains that WebRTC communicates with STUN servers, which can potentially expose your actual local or public IP address even when using a VPN or proxy.

### 4. Match the time zone and read the overview

Use [Timezone Detection](https://www.todetect.net/timezone/) to compare the IP-based zone with the browser’s, then review the Browser Fingerprint Consistency score on the [homepage](https://www.todetect.net/). Rerun each check after changing the proxy or browser settings.
